Nolan Razban is an artist currently based in the Netherlands studying at the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague (KABK). Growing up with a passion for music and having played the French Horn for over a decade, he weaves melodies and music theory into his practice. Living between Europe and North America, and growing up in a multi-cultural household, he believes that dialoguing amongst these differing perspectives leads to work that is firmly anchored in its time. His artistic activity is deeply rooted in everyday experiences and often overlooked materials. He is moved by the way cardboard ripples when left out in the rain, and takes note of crumbling brick; he believes there is beauty in the mundane. His creative process involves making, remaking, and ultimately pruning his research to reveal his intention.
